Company Background

Specifix is owned and run by Richard George, an IT Consultant with many years' experience in specifying and managing large IT projects for Corporate and Public Sector clients.

After completing an MSc. in Computer Science Richard began his IT career as a developer for British Maritime Technology but soon branched out into Project and Programme Management, leading teams on three-year research programmes funded by the European Union.

After joining Hyperlink in 2000, one of the first web development agencies in the UK, Richard focussed on Business Analysis and Consultancy, leading software consultancy projects for major Corporate and Public Sector clients including:

• SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication)
• NHS Connecting for Health (formerly National Programme for IT)
• Home Office
• Lord Chancellor's Department & Court Service (now Ministry of Justice)
• Aviva (Norwich Union)
• Department for Trade and Industry

In 2005, Richard joined a small start-up - Skinkers - managing a growing Project Management team, and later taking responsibility for Consultancy. During this time Richard doubled project revenues by implementing best-practice project delivery procedures and delivered a five-fold increase in consultancy revenue.

During his time at Skinkers Richard also worked on consultancy and Project Management engagements for a number of companies, including:

• Royal Mail
• Bank of America (MBNA)
• UPS
• BBC
• London Stock Exchange
• easyJet

In 2008 Richard set up Specifix Consulting in order to provide management and consultancy services direct to suppliers, and working on behalf of Arqiva, Ogilvy and the Web Technology Group to deliver large IT projects to a number of clients including several Police Forces and public bodies.
